first 9

this past monday, i finally got out on the course. it was a pretty spectacular outing for someone that’s supposed to be a 10 hdcp. and when i say spectacular, i’m saying i lost a ball on the first 5 holes for sure… eff

i started on the range and hit about a small bucket of balls. i didn’t spray around too much, but the driver was certainly the worst club in the bag. the main issue i had to start, other than the horrible tee shots, were distance control. i was coming up short on most of the shots. it’s always easy to use technology as a crutch so i want to blame my gps, but it was mostly my swing. fortunately, i did manage to birdie the 9th hole. hit a great fade off the tee that trickled into the first cut, but since it’s still winter, the rough wasn’t nearly as lush as it will come spring. i was left with about 150 yds to the green so i smoothed a 9 iron that was a nice towering shot that stopped dead next to its ball mark. i was about 10 ft above the hole. it was a little right to left breaker with a slight grade. i wasn’t sure about the speed since the greens aren’t full yet. i know i didn’t want to be short of the hole so i gave it a little extra rap. once it started rolling i thought i didn’t hit it hard enough! i started walking but as i got closer to the ball it started to track better and better then the beautiful sound of the ball at the bottom of the cup. i walked the course too so the next day my body was a bit sore. i’m still getting over it now.

carolyn won the main bingo prize on tuesday. see pic. pretty cool for a free event.
