magfest

what a great time we had at magfest. there were so many people just enjoying themselves and living it up la vida loca!

here are just a few examples of the cosplay and the kids…

every person in cosplay was pretty stunning, both the males and females. i didn’t take many pics of the males because reasons.

unfortunately, i didn’t get much gaming in. there was a bit of drama with josh. he wanted to game much later than i wanted to be awake. it wouldn’t have been an issue if we could’ve made other arrangements. initially, he told me his tournament would end around 11pm. it was close to midnight and he told me he needed to play another game.

if i’m being honest, it went down more like this… josh was told, before we even left the driveway, he needed to keep an eye on alex at all costs. no excuse. they were to be attached to the hips. during this tournament, josh decided to leave alex alone and hang out with his newly formed friends. i found out after i meandered into the gaming hall to check on them. needless to say, my emotions were elevated to a height i didn’t want to accommodate any of his requests. other than the one incident (there’s another tangent to this story i will probably share later) the entire con was amazing.

so, i didn’t allow him to stay for another game which pretty much killed it for me to do my own gaming since i felt i couldn’t trust him to watch alex.

but i digress… i do wish i had more details about magfest. let’s count on going next year and having better, more detailed stories. although, i did end with a nice positive ev play.

parking is outrageous at national harbor. it’s $30 a day/night. needless to say, i was totally on tilt thinking about these fees, plus the food and drinks. the cash register was cha-chinging with each thought in my head! but, when we left the convention center to check into the hotel, i noticed the exit boom barriers were up! score! the next day i passed on paying that fee.

what i didn’t count on was the additional $34 a night to park at the hotel in old town alexandria. after paying the first night i resigned myself to fee the next night but when i checked out of the hotel i noticed my car wasn’t moved. pfft. another fee waived!

on a side note, i just booked my room for awesomecon. so that’s awesome 🙂
